Customs Documentation Technician

Main Responsibilities
- Review customs invoices to ensure accurate billing, and dispute overcharges with brokers (e.g., UPS, UPS-SCS) to recover overpayments.
- Confirm USMCA eligibility and maintain up-to-date certificates with our brokers and partners.
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable team on claims and to identify amounts to recharge customers as needed.
- Update customs information in our systems to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize processes.
- Validate the technical specifications of various parts, perform research to accurately determine HS/HTS codes and countries of origin (COO).
- Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and keep the required information and documents (HS codes, COO) up to date.
- Prepare customs documents (commercial invoices, etc.) for projects, parts, returns, and other shipments.
- Review and approve commercial invoices produced by our suppliers.
- Respond to various requests from carriers and/or customs brokers.
- Participate in determining part values based on contracts within project frameworks.
Experience and Qualifications
- Proficiency in French to be an asset, as you will work with several plants and teams in Canada and the U.S.
- Experience in customs documentation or education in customs, transportation, or international trade.
- Knowledge of the Harmonized System (HTS / tariff codes).
- Basic knowledge of mechanical components (an asset).
- Proficient in Excel.
- Knowledge of the Genius ERP system (an asset).
