Customs Documentation Technician

Main Responsibilities

  • Review customs invoices to ensure accurate billing, and dispute overcharges with brokers (e.g., UPS, UPS-SCS) to recover overpayments.
  • Confirm USMCA eligibility and maintain up-to-date certificates with our brokers and partners.
  • Work closely with the Accounts Payable team on claims and to identify amounts to recharge customers as needed.
  • Update customs information in our systems to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize processes.
  • Validate the technical specifications of various parts, perform research to accurately determine HS/HTS codes and countries of origin (COO).
  • Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and keep the required information and documents (HS codes, COO) up to date.
  • Prepare customs documents (commercial invoices, etc.) for projects, parts, returns, and other shipments.
  • Review and approve commercial invoices produced by our suppliers.
  • Respond to various requests from carriers and/or customs brokers.
  • Participate in determining part values based on contracts within project frameworks.
